About Hook Vets

Accredited and respected vets based in Hampshire

About the Practice

Over the years the practice has grown and developed through the support and dedication of many longstanding professional staff and an unfailing commitment to animal welfare and excellent care for the pets in our area. The team comprises three veterinary surgeons, seven RCVS registered veterinary nurses, two trainee veterinary nurses, one nursing assistant, two receptionists and the practice manager. Clients travel from far and wide to maintain continuity of quality advice, experience and clinical expertise.

We communicate regularly and work closely with Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognised specialists to ensure your pet’s case gets the best attention to achieve a speedy recovery. We believe strongly in preventative healthcare in an attempt to keep your pet in peak condition for a long and happy life.

Our online store is for the convenience of our clients through which a huge range of pet foods, accessories and supplements can be purchased at discounted prices.

Why Choose Us?

We are a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons accredited small animal practice having been inspected and approved as meeting the very strict criteria of standards in small animal veterinary practice.

Our team are deeply committed to helping pets to experience as little anxiety as possible when they come to see us. We are proud that so many of our patients actually enjoy their visits to see us for their health checks. It is our priority to keep pets as calm and stress free as possible if they need to see us or spend any time in the hospital.

We actively encourage clients to seek to make appointments with the same veterinary surgeon for any particular ongoing case if at all possible. If this is not possible you can be reassured that the internal communication systems we have in place between our staff mean that each of the veterinary surgeons is well equipped to take on an ongoing case.

We expressly want our clients to feel fully informed about their pet’s health and it is our responsibility to inform you of all available options. As pet owners ourselves we know we all have personal sentiments about what is best for our pets and we are there to guide you and support you in making decisions so that we achieve a solution that you are comfortable with should your pet require treatment. The correct decision for everyone does not mean the most expensive one.

Pets are often treated as members of the family and owners rightly want to be sure they receive excellent medical treatment.

How Can You Be Sure?

The regulatory function of the RCVS means that users of veterinary services can be assured that their veterinary surgeon or registered/listed veterinary nurse is properly qualified and fit to practice.

The RCVS also offers reassurance that those practice premises that it accredits as part of the Practice Standards Scheme meet stringent standards.

Around half the practices in the UK are accredited under the voluntary practice standards scheme.

Through setting standards and carrying out regular inspections, the scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care.
